UFC middle weight champion Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva will possibly not fight until early 2012 as noted by his manager Ed Soares on MMA Fighting on Saturday night, September 10, 2011.

Silva injured his shoulder during training for his UFC 134 fight against Yushin Okami last August 27, with the extent of the injury and which shoulder was injured were not revealed.

“A month before the fight I injured my shoulder while training with Junior dos Santos and I was feeling a lot of pain in Rio. I’ve had to take some medicine and warn the athletic commission about it,” Silva was quoted as saying.

According to Ed Soares, Silva will not undergo surgery, but instead he will simply rehab to heal his injured shoulder.

“I’ve talked to my doctors. I had an MRI and then I started feeling pains in my shoulder but the doctors let me go and said it was not that serious. It’s a small injury, but I guess it’s on the cuff and bothers me. I’ll rest for a while and get healed,” Silva revealed.

Meanwhile, Silva is being set to face the winner of the matchup between Chael Sonnen and Brian Stann in UFC 136 by early next year when he is back on his fighting form.
