As announced on its official website on Tuesday, June 7, this nationwide event aims to educate all dog owners and other pet-related organizations the importance of being a responsible dog owner and also to celebrate the bonding between them and their pet dogs.

“We encourage more organizations to join us in 2011 to help us spread this important message in a very fun way!” AKC spokesperson Lisa Peterson said on the report, noting that over 500 organizations were held in last year’s event.

The public is being invited to create an “Event Account” by August 1, 2011, by signing up at AKC.org, wherein all events will be listed starting July 1 and can be searched by state.

According to AKC, the first 500 organizations that will confirm the details of their event will receive special gift packs including RDOD Media Idea Kit, posters, brochures and other giveaways.

As of this writing, there is no start date yet for the Responsible Dog Ownership Days 2011 but AKC noted that it may start any day this September.

For more information, AKC is inviting concerned individuals to visit their official website and to “Like” their Facebook page “American Kennel Club” to get more updates of the said event.
