James Durbin was eliminated from American Idol 2011, which was held on Thursday, May 12, 2011, as announced by show host Ryan Seacrest.

As shown at Fox, the American Idol 2011 Top 4 elimination night featured James Durbin as the eliminated contestant, with nearly 72 million votes cast.

Before the announcement, James Durbin had a duet with Scotty McCreery and sang Brad Paisley’s “Start a Band.” Haley Reinhart and Lauren Alaina performed “Gunpowder and Lead” by Miranda Lambert.

Apparently, Lauren Alaina was the first one declared safe, who was followed by Haley Reinhart and then Scotty McCreery.

Durbin, 22, the rocker from Santa Cruz, California, sang “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Love Potion No. 9” on Wednesday, where the top 4 finalists sang 2 songs each.

The remaining Top 3 American Idol 2011 finalists will be competing with each other on Wednesday, May 18, and the elimination night will be on May 17, Thursday.

The American Idol 2011 Finale Performance will be on Tuesday, May 24 and on Wednesday May 25, both at 8pm (ET) on Fox.
