As noted by TechCrunch writer MG Siegler, who earlier claimed he have seen and used the Amazon tablet, Amazon sent an invitation on Friday to a press conference to be held this Wednesday in New York City.

The Amazon ‘Kindle Fire’ was said to be unveiled by none other than Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos during the press event which is being expected to start at 10 a.m. (NY time).

Apparently, Mr. Siegler suggests that the Kindle Fire looks like a Blackberry PlayBook in terms of form-factor, because it was designed and built by the original design manufacturer (ODM), Quanta.

He said he also learned Kindle Fire will be a 7-inch backlit display tablet and will use a TI dual-core OMAP chip, which is the same chip used inside a lot of later Android devices.

Nevertheless, Amazon Kindle Fire was earlier estimated to cost $250 but Siegler said on Tuesday that it could reach $300.

Meanwhile, All Things Digital said their sources revealed that the Amazon tablet will have the support from at least three of the big magazine publishers including Hearst, Conde Nast and Meredith.
