Amazon.com Inc. has launched on Friday, April 29, 2011, a store that sells a wide selection of digital songs for only 69-cents, according to reports by several international sites.

The 69-cents offering by Amazon is a drop from its usual 89-cents digital songs price. About 200 singles, including 26 of the top 40 songs, out of its 15 million song collections are pegged at 69-cents. All other songs are still at a premium price of $1.29.

According to reports, Amazon has launched the price drop to attract more customers to its e-commerce website and eventually drive them to its cloud drives.

Last March 2011, Amazon introduced its Amazon Cloud Drive and Amazon Cloud Player, that allows online users to store 5 gigabytes of music on its servers and play back tunes over mobile devices powered by Google‘s Android operating system.
