According to The Sun on Saturday, April 16, 2011, a Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) 2011 contestant named Alex Griffiths revealed that she was snatched from St Thomas Hospital in London, just 36 hours after she was born.

Dawn Griffiths, Alex’ mother, appeared in local TV that time, and was watched nationwide as she appeals that her baby be returned.

Alex Griffiths, 21, decided not to share her story when she auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent 2011, where she sang and danced to the tune of ‘I Can’t Do It Alone’ by Chicago.

“I want to impress people for who I am and what I can do, not because I was kidnapped as a baby,” Alex Griffiths told The Sun, which featured her story on their newspaper when it happened.

“People were saying I should tell the judges my story as it could help me get through. I’ve watched loads of these shows and I know people use sob stories to get the judges on their side.” She added.

Apparently, Alex Griffiths went missing for 17 days and was found at a cottage in the Cotswolds with her kidnapper Janet Griffiths, with no relation to her whatsoever.

That time, Janet Griffiths, then 33, told reports she took baby Alex to persuade her millionaire lover to leave his wife, and was later sent to a psychiatric hospital and died of cancer four years later.

Meanwhile, Alex Griffiths is now a Mathematics undergraduate student at the Manchester University, but told the report that the kidnapping part of her life is something she will never forget.
