As for the results update for the recent election 2010 for Alaska, Senator Lisa Murkowski is now officially ahead of Joe Miller, based on the manual counting of the write-in votes.

As published at The New York Times on Monday, Senator Lisa Murkowski has now 92,164 write-in votes and now 1,716 votes ahead of her Republican opponent, Joe Miller, which has now 90,448 votes.

This was the result after a six-day manual counting started in Juneau, in which Joe Miller’s camp contest some 7,601 votes that eventually went on for Senator Murkowski.

And according to Murkowski’s camp, her lead against Miller is being expected to rise more as the manual count continues, which may be finished in a couple of days more.

As of this writing, Senator Murkowski has won about 89.3% of the total write-up votes and nearly 8,500 ballots are still for counting.

Last week, Joe Miller filed a lawsuit last week and insisted that voters must correctly spell the name of Murkowski correctly on their write-in ballots and should not be counted for her otherwise.

However, he also said that he may withdraw his legal fight and concede to Senator Murkowski if the unchallenged votes for the latter will be more than he has received.
