According to reports, Philippines’ Food and Drug Administration ordered the recall of two milk products in the market, namely: Alactagrow Bibo Trio Milk Supplement and Sustagen Junior Milk Drink Powder Vanilla Flavor (for toddlers 1-3 years old). These products are both manufactured by Mead Johnson Nutrition (Philippines) Inc.

The orders were dated September 16 and signed by the acting FDA Director Nazarita Tacandong. According to FDA, the two milk products did not meet the FDA standards for fat level content.

Under the CODEX STAN 156-1987, the required fat level content for follow-up formula milk is 3 to 6 grams per 100 calories. However, according to FDA, the Sustagen Junior Milk Drink Powder Vanilla Flavor has only 1.5 grams per 100 calories while the Alactagrow Bibo Trio Milk Supplement has only 1.34 grams per 100 calories.

People who bought the said products should return them to either the manufacturers or licensed distributors and get their money back, the FDA said.

According to FDA, the continued sale of these products may result in “gross deception to the consuming public and may even present risk of illness or injury to the consuming sector of the public, the young children.”
