Micah Strachan was supposed to travel to Florida, as a gift from his grandparents, but his Visa was denied by the US Embassy. This was reported by International news sites, January 16, 2011.

The US Embassy cited Section 214(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act as the reason for his refusal. This means that the Embassy was not able to establish Micah Strachan’s “strong ties outside the US.”

The 9 year old boy has a South African passport, although he lived with his grandparents in Britain because they had opted for it.

The grandparents are distressed because they already spent a lot on their grandson’s gift. They are finding ways to remedy the situation by trying to contact local politicians and even President Obama for some help.
