As noted at TechCrunch on Sunday night, the $99 tablet computer sale of refurbished HP TouchPad at eBay started at 7 p.m. EST for both the 16GB and 32GB versions.

As reported earlier, Hewlett Packard (HP) sent an email to their employees recently announcing the $99 tablet computer sale via eBay, which each employee is allowed to buy 2 units per purchase.

On that email, HP announced that the HP TouchPad 16GB and 32GB versions will be available at eBay for $99 and $149 respectively this Sunday, December 11. The offer is initially for HP employees only but will continuously be sold publicly the next day if there are still units available.

HP stressed out the items will be sold only via Paypal and will not be sold anywhere particularly in other HP stores including the Home & Home Office store, small & medium business store, among others.

Nevertheless, TechCrunch reported about an hour ago that the HP TouchPad 16GB version has been sold out only 10 minutes after the sale opened and the HP TouchPad 32GB version had only one unit left after about two hours.

As of this writing, the HP TouchPad 32GB version has been already sold with a statement at the eBay page selling the unit now reads, “This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available”.

Nevertheless, HP did not announce as to how many $99 and $149 tablet computer units were offered and if there are still stocks remaining that might be offered on another date.
