A 666 stamped W-2 tax form caused a man to quit his job in Clarksville, Tennessee, The Tennessean reported on Thursday, February 7, 2013.

According to the report, Walter Slonopas quit his job as a maintenance worker at Contech Casting LLC after receiving his W-2 tax form stamped with the number 666.

Apparently, the number 666 is called the “number of the beast” in the Bible. Slonopas is a born-again Christian. He believes that if he accepted the number and continue working, he can go to hell.

“If you accept that number, you sell your soul to the devil,” Slonopas was quoted as saying in the report.

Reports said that this is not the first time Slonopas encountered the number 666. He was also given the number 666 on his first day on the job in April 2011. He complained and was given a new number. When the company changed time clock systems in July 2011, he was also given the number 666 and he quit. The company reportedly apologized and he went back to work a few days later.

This is Slonopas‘ third encounter with the number, prompting him to finally resign from his job for good.

The company said that they are planning to rehire him. They will send a new W-2 tax form without the number 666 on it. However, The Tennessean reported that Slonopas has no plans to go back to work even if the company gives him a new W-2, saying that it would send a message that he sold out his faith for money.

“God is worth more than money,” Slonopas reportedly said.
