According to reports, the 86th goal was accomplished on their game against Real Betis, where he scored 2-0 by the 25th minute of the Spanish league match.

Messi has broken Gerd Mueller‘s 40-year-old record of 85 goals, which was set in 1972. For this year, Messi already has 74 goals for Barcelona and 12 goals for Argentina, having a total of 86 goals.

Moreover, Messi has three more games to play, which means that he can still add more to his total goals before this year ends.

Messi is a finalist for the FIFA‘s world player of the year award, reports said.
