As noted at US news sites on Tuesday, a preserved McDonald’s Chicken McNugget that resembles to President George Washington was auctioned at eBay last month and was sold last Monday, March 5 for $8,100.

According to reports, the Washington McNugget seller was Rebekah Speight of Dakota City, Nebraska, who said that she wanted to raise money that can send 50 children to summer camp at Family Worship Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

“Approximately 3 years ago, I treated my children to ‘99 cent McNugget Tuesday‘ and play time at our local McDonald‘s. As I was cleaning up, I noticed one particular nugget and began to laugh.” Speight wrote on the eBay auction page.

“I picked it up for a closer look, and sure enough it was in the likeness of President George Washington. I decided to take it home and show my husband this hysterical find.” Speight added, noting that having it auctioned at eBay started as a joke.

Nevertheless, eBay had temporarily taken down the auction last month because it violated rules regulating expired food but later changed its mind citing the cause of the auction is an “exemption”, with Speight emphasizing that the item is frozen but not for human consumption.
