2018 Winter Olympics: Pyeongchang Of South Korea Won The Bid To Host The Event

The 2018 Winter Olympics host city has been elected in the first round of voting and the decision among French city of Annecy, Munich in Germany and South Korea‘s Pyeongchang was announced on July 6, 2011 at about 1500 GMT.

According to several reports, one of the three applicants got an outright majority in the first round of voting which requires at least 48 votes. Pyeongchang of South Korea was said to be the favorite and had won the bid.

The three candidates made their final pitches to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Wednesday with hopes that they would get the votes for their country to be the host city of the 2018 Winter Olympics.
