The 2013 Ford Escape was unveiled at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, as shown in the video below.

As noted at US news sites that day, the 2013 Escape is the latest version of this model and has been transformed from a five-passenger SUV into an inclined crossover similar to a minivan.

According to reports, Ford Motors Inc. plans to offer three engine options; a 1.6-liter 173 horsepower, a 2-liter 237 horsepower, and the current model 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine with some improvements.

The 1.6-liter is being estimated to produce 173-hp and 177 lb-ft of torque while the 2.0-liter will put out 237 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque, with both models featuring an upgraded version of MyFord Touch system.

In addition, the redesigned Ford Escape has a smart 4WD system that uses an electromagnetic clutch to vector torque to the right wheels and can pull up to 3,500 pounds (over 1,580 kilos) if properly equipped..

This latest Ford Escape is 178.1 inches in total length and has a 34.3-cubic feet load capacity when 5 passengers are inside, with its price and other details not yet revealed as of this writing.

Incidentally, the 2012 Volkswagon Passat, which was named by Motor Trend as 2012 Car of the Year, was also unveiled at the 2011 LA Auto Show, which starts on Friday, November 18 until next Sunday, November 27, 2011.
