As noted in the report, the 2013 SRT Viper GTS-R also was revealed as part of the Chrysler Group‘s announcement that a factory-backed SRT Viper Racing team is being set to return to the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) this year.

“We strove to deliver a supercar that continues to bring the driver as close as possible to the machine.” Mr. Gilles said during the launch, noting that there will be two identical SRT Viper GTS-Rs models (SRT Viper and the SRT Viper GTS) that will compete in the production-based GT class in the series.
