Chrysler’s “Halftime in America” ads featuring Clint Eastwood and Doritos‘ “Man’s Best Friend” featuring a dog bribing its owner, as shown in the videos below, were noted to be among the best 2012 Super Bowl commercials.

As noted at US news sites Sunday, February 5, 2012, advertisers paid $3.5 million for a 30-minute commercial during the Super Bowl XLVI breaks held at Lucas Oil Stadium stage in Indianapolis.

According to reports, Chrysler’s 2-minute “Halftime” ad won the hearts and minds of football fans, and although the 81-year old actor did not even mention the car maker’s name, he sent some inspiring messages.

“People are out of work and they’re hurting. And they’re all wondering what they’re going to do to make a comeback. The people of Detroit know a little something about this,” Clint Eastwood said on the Chrysler Super Bowl ad.

“This country can’t be knocked out with one punch. We get right back up again, and when we do the world is going to hear the roar of our engines. Ya, it’s halftime in America, and our second half is about to begin.” Eastwood added.

“It was superb. They had the courage to take the power of emotions. I got goosebumps.” Kelly O’Keefe, professor of brand strategy at Virginia Commonwealth University, was quoted at CNN Money.

Meanwhile, another 2012 Super Bowl ad that notably captured attention of the audience was from Doritos, where a dog appeared to have buried a family cat, then bribes the owner to keep silent by giving him a Doritos snack.

According to USA Today, the said ad was chosen as the current top pick of their panel, with their official voting to close at 6 p.m. ET this Tuesday and the winner will be named on their website as well as on their printed edition.

Apparently, there are other 2012 Super Bowl ads that earned praises from various websites, which includes the controversial “Chevy Silverado 2012”, “The Dog Strikes Back: 2012 Volkswagen” and “Samsung Mobile USA – Thing Called Love“.

On the other hand, among the noted “worst” 2012 Super Bowl ads that earned criticisms came from GoDaddy, Coca-cola, David Beckham‘s H&M, Pepsi‘s “King’s Court” featuring Elton John and “The X Factor USA Season 1” winner Melanie Amaro.
