2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees announced, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns N’ Roses included

The names of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2102 inductees were announced on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, with Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns N’ Roses (GNR) included in the list.

According to a press release at RockHall.com that day, the 2012 Roll Hall of Fame inductees also include Donovan, Laura Nyro, Beastie Boys, and The Small Faces in the Performer Category.

The rock band GNR, composed of Slash, Duff McKagan, Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler, was noted to be a highly expected name to be included in the list, as well as the punk rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers.

“It’s very emotional, and I’m not sure where the emotions are coming from,” Chili Peppers bassist Michael “Flea” Balzary was quoted in a cellphone interview at Los Angeles Times after learning the news.

In addition, blues musician Freddie King will be inducted in Early Influence category, along with the late rock promoter, Don Kirshner, who will receive the Ahmet Ertegun (nonperformer) Award.

On the other hand, recording engineers Cosimo Matassa, Tom Dowd, and Glyn Johns will be given the Award for Musical Excellence, also for the non-performer category.

“We are pleased to announce this year’s Hall of Fame inductees, who represent the broad spectrum of artists that define rock and roll,” Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation President and CEO Joel Peresman was quoted on the report.

“We are also thrilled this year to again be partnered with HBO, who presented the Hall of Fame’s 25th Anniversary Concerts.” Peresman added, with the 27th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to be held in Cleveland.

The 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction event night, which will be open to the public, will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2012 and will premiere on HBO in early May.

According to the Rock and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame organizers, tickets will be sold starting Saturday, December 17, 2011 beginning at 10 a.m. EST for $50 and $100, with a two-ticket limit on all orders.
