2012 NBA Playoffs Results: Miami Heat Routs New York Knicks in Game 1, 100-67

Miami Heat won the first game of their first round series of the 2012 NBA Playoffs against the New York Knicks, 100-67, according to a report at NBA.com on Saturday, April 28, 2012 (Sunday in Manila).

LeBron James scored 32 points for Miami on 10 of 14 shooting from the field. Dwyane Wade added 19 points as the Heat routed the Knicks in Game 1.

The Heat had a 32-2 run in one stretch and closed the game on an 18-6 run to beat the Knicks and take Game 1 of the teams’ Eastern Conference first-round series on Saturday. Miami scored a playoff-record 38 points off New York‘s 27 turnovers.

J.R. Smith led New York by scoring 17 points. Carmelo Anthony had a poor shooting night missing 12 of 15 shots . He finished the game with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Knicks.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra explained that Miami “wanted to get back to the basics and play to our identity. For the most part, we were able to do that by being aggressive.”

Game 2 of the Heat versus Knicks first round 2012 NBA Playoffs series is scheduled on Tuesday at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.
