2012 NBA All-Star players online voting starts, game to be held on February 26

The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 the start of the online voting of fans for the 2012 NBA All-Star players, to be presented by Sprint.

As noted by NBA on its official website on Wednesday, the 2012 NBA All-Star online voting started at 12:15 p.m. ET on the same day, which was also announced during a special event in Orlando, Florida.

According to the report, the 61st NBA All-Star game will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Amway Center, in Orlando, and will be aired live on TNT and ESPN Radio in the U.S.

NBA fans all over the world are being invited to cast their vote daily at NBA.com, where a list of 120 NBA players is available and can be accessed in 16 languages; and also by texting the player’s last name to 6-9-6-2-2 (“MYNBA“).

In addition, NBA noted that Sprint customers can also access the ballot and vote for their favorite NBA players via the new “Sprint NBA Mobile” application, with the voting to end on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.

Meanwhile, NBA emphasized that fans can now vote for 10 different players per day, per phone number, via SMS voting by sending 10 separate SMS messages, each vote with a different player’s surname.

The basketball league said that the name of the starters will be announced live on TNT on Thursday, February 2, during a special one-hour pregame show at 7 p.m. ET featuring Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith.

Apparently, the NBA All-Star ballot list has 60 players each from the Eastern and Western conferences, with 24 guards, 24 forwards, and 12 centers from each conference, where fans can vote for two guards, two forwards and one center from each conference.
