As announced at MTV.com on Tuesday morning, Rihanna is nominated in five categories including Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, and Video of The Year, in which she has two entries: her “We Found Love” music video and in “Take Care”, her duet with Drake, who also has five nominations.

Apparently, the four other nominations for Drake include Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Male Video, as well as Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography, again for his “Take Care” music video; while Katy Perry, who was the big winner last year, received four nominations.

On the other hand, among those who have three nominations each include Coldplay, Frank Ocean, M.I.A., The Throne, and Beyonce, who made headlines during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards when she announced that she is pregnant, right after she performed live on stage.

For the Best New Artist award voting, fans can vote for their favorite new artist via all wireless carrier subscribers by texting BNA to 22444 or by visiting the official MTV Facebook page, and will continue until the show date, which will be on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 8 p.m. ET.
