As noted at US news sites that day, the 2012 Honda CR-V is being referred as “the latest evolution” of its popular five-passenger crossover, which will be on sale in the country this coming December 15.

According to reports, this re-designed Honda CR-V is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 185 horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque, and is matched with a five-speed automatic transmission.

The four-wheel-drive (FWD) version of the 2012 CR-V is an EPA-rated at 23/31 city/highway, as compared to the 2011 model which is 21/28, while at 22 mpg city/30 mpg highway for the all-wheel drive.

The latest CR-V also features an iPhone-compatible Pandora Internet Radio interface3, which works via the intelligent multi-information display (i-MID) using Bluetooth connectivity, along with a 5″ color TFT LCD screen located at the top center of the dashboard.

The i-MID can also read SMS text messages aloud over the audio system and the driver can even send simple, factory preset messages such as “Talk to you later, I’m driving”.

The 2012 Honda CR-V also has a multi-angle rearview camera for safety purposes, a notably spacious center console, a lower cargo floor and an easy fold-down split rear seat.

Honda noted that the 2012 version will be the most efficient CR-V model and the most fuel-efficient in compact SUV class, which is being estimated to be worth between $21,000 and $30,000.

Meanwhile, among other new cars that were unveiled at the 2011 LA Auto Show are the 2013 Cadillac XTS Sedan, the 2013 Ford Escape, and the 2012 Volkswagon Passat, which was named by Motor Trend as 2012 Car of the Year.
