As noted at US news sites on Saturday late afternoon, Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich said that the upcoming event will honor Whitney Houston, who was found dead in her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel at 3:55 p.m. (LA time).

Whitney was a multi-Grammy winner; she appeared on the show a number of times. We’re very saddened, and we don’t want to rush into anything that wouldn’t be respectful,” Ehrlich was quoted on reports.

“I’ve asked Jennifer Hudson to come, and we’re really at this moment talking about what she’s going to do. It’s going to be something respectful to Whitney‘s memory. It’s not going to be a full-blown tribute, that’s too early and it’s too fresh at this moment.” Ehrlich added.

Apparently, Houston is supposed to perform at Clive Davis’ 2012 pre-Grammy Party at the said hotel, which was earlier reported to have been canceled but eventually pushed through despite the incident.

Incidentally, Whitney Houston won six Grammys in her career, including Album of the Year in 1993 for “The Bodyguard” soundtrack and Record of the Year for her version of “I Will Always Love You“.

The 2012 Grammy Awards, which will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles this Sunday, February 12 at 8 p.m. ET, will be aired at CBS, with legendary singer Chaka Khan also being rumored to be performing for Whitney Houston.
