2012 Audi A7 wins first ever Car of the Year award by Motor Press Guild

The 2012 Audi A7 recently won the Car of the Year 2011 award by the Motor Press Guild (MPG), which claims to be the largest automotive media association in the US, and its first ever award to be given.

As noted by Motor Press Guild official website on Thursday, November 10, 2011, the 2012 Audi A7 was chosen as their first Motor Press Guild Vehicle of the Year (VOTY) award recipient.

According to MPG, the 2012 Audi A7 was selected among four other finalists by a panel of its members due to of its styling, handling and slew of advanced technologies, after a series of evaluation.

The other four finalists include the 2012 Fiat 500, the 2012 Ford Focus, the 2011 Hyundai Elantra, and the 2012 Cevrolet Sonic. They were presented during their 2011 Track Day in early last month.

The said vehicles were rated by journalists according to safety, quality, value, performance/handling, design/style, environmental/green impact and technology/innovation.

“It was a close battle, but the 2012 Audi A7 edged out the competition with its compelling combination of handsome styling, dynamic handling and advanced in-car technology.’ MPG President Laura Burstein was quoted on the report.

“In this highly competitive market, it’s hard to be a standout, but Audi did it with the A7.” Burstein added, who will present the award to Audi of America President Johan de Nysschen on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Los Angeles Auto Show press event.

“The A7 is the epitome of high style and artistry, with a five-door coupe design that is both sporty and elegant. Response to the launch of the A7 this year has been outstanding. We’re proud to be selected by Motor Press Guild as the recipient of their first-ever Vehicle of the Year award,” Nysschen reportedly said.
