The Heisman finalists were announced by 1995 Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George, shortly after 6 p.m. ET at ESPN that day, as chosen by former Heisman winners and selected media members.

The five Heisman finalists for this year are University of Wisconsin running back Montee Ball, Baylor University quarterback Robert Griffin III, Stanford University quarterback Andrew Luck, Louisiana State University cornerback Tyrann Mathieu, and University of Alabama running back Trent Richardson.

“If it’s 3 finalists, expect a comfortable win for RG3. If there are 4, it will be a bit closer. If there are 5, it’s going to be very close.” Chris Huston (@heismanpundit) of Heismanpundit.com tweeted before the announcement.

The 2011 Heisman finalists, which none of them were seniors, will be attending the live 77th Annual Heisman Memorial Trophy awards night in New York, to be held on Saturday, December 10, and will be aired at ESPN at 8 p.m. ET.

“You don’t ever see yourself right there,” Griffin, who was also called RG3 by Baylor fans and had 36 touchdowns., was quoted on reports, being the first Baylor player to be named as a Heisman finalist.

“You dream it, you want to be there, but when you actually get there, you’re still like, ‘I can’t believe this is happening.'” He added, who led Baylor on its first nine-win campaign in 15 seasons.

On the other hand, Richardson is the second Alabama running back finalist for the last three years, while Luck is a finalist for the second straight season.
