2011 FIRST Championship: Honda ASIMO Humanoid Robot To Debut In St. Louis’ FIRST Championship

ASIMO, the world’s most advanced humanoid robot by Honda, will make its debut at the 2011 For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Championship, according to a report by Businesswire.com today, April 27, 2011.

This year’s FIRST Championship will be held at the Edward Jones Dome, in St. Louis, Missouri. from Thursday, April 27 until Saturday, April 30.

Honda will provide a 15-minute free glimpse of ASIMO‘s capabilities that include walking forward and backward, running nearly 4 mph, climbing stairs and more.

ASIMO is an acronym for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility. It is a product of Honda‘s research and development for over two decades. The humanoid robot was designed to provide assistance at home.

FIRST Championship is an annual event that seeks to encourage young students to consider further studies in Technology, Science, Engineering and Math.
