Reports say that the Cadillac hearse usually cost only $40,000. However, due to the historical importance of the car, the cost increased by almost four times of its regular value.

The $160K hearse, a 1964 Cadillac hearse built by the Miller-Meteor Company, was used to bring JFK‘s body from Parkland Memorial Hospital to Air Force One.

In the 2011 Scottsdale Collector Car Auction, the ambulance that carried JFK‘s body after it arrived at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland was sold for $132,000.

The identity of the seller and buyer of the $160K hearse were not made public.

Scottsdale Collector Car Auction 2012 runs from January 15 until January 22.
