15.5-pound baby Chun Chun was born in a local hospital in Xinxiang City, Henan province in Central China on Saturday, February 4, according to reports by several international news sites on Tuesday, February 8, 2012.

Reports say that baby Chun Chun maybe China‘s heaviest newly born baby on record. He is the second child of Han Jingang and Wang Yujuan. The couple’s six-year-old daughter only weighs over 8l pounds during birth.

Shan Lili, head of the obsetrics department, said that the 15.5-pound baby “is twice as heavy as a normal one.”

Reports say that the official Guinness World Record for the heaviest baby on record is 23.12 pounds. The record was set by a baby born in Ohio in 1879.
