The 1928 movie poster of Mickey Mouse has been sold for more than $100,000 at Heritage Auctions in Dallas, Texas, on Thursday, November 29 as reported on Friday, November 30, 2012 by international news sites.

The iconic Mickey Mouse poster was created and developed by Walt Disney in collaboration with Ub Iwerks. It was said to be one of the earliest surviving images created by Walt Disney. The poster shows a smiling Mickey Mouse waving his gloved hand with a slogan calling the animated mouse “The World’s Funniest Cartoon Character.”

The $100,000 Mickey Mouse poster reportedly sold by the estate of a Northern California collector.

BBC noted that “Auction house director Grey Smith called the poster “an important piece of pop culture treasure”, adding that it was likely to be the only Mickey Mouse poster created until 1930, when Columbia Pictures started distributing Disney cartoons.”

Meanwhile, the name of the lucky bidder was not disclosed. The $100,000 Mickey Mouse stock Poster measures 27″ X 41″.
