The “You Need to Get off Facebook” video is bound to go viral and this is because there is some truth to the written comments presented by the young man in the video. This was released by YouTube on December 13, 2010 but has been viewed already more than 200,000 times.

Facebook has been created by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004, and the social networking site gained more than 500 million users all over the world.  Zuckerberg was named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year for 2010 and was portrayed in the movie, “The Social Network.”

Facebook has become part of the lives of majority of people. You are not “in” if you do not have a Facebook account. This is because it is a dynamic site that allows users  to interact with friends, share pictures, events, videos, games and every activity that you can do in the Internet.

There have been some groups that had warned Internet users about the “dangers” of Facebook, but this is the first time that this type of video was released.

The short video comes from Ross Gardiner, who made a humorous presentation of the downsides of Facebook and why people should “Get off Facebook”.  The following are some of the reasons given, piece by piece, in rectangular cardboards amidst a busy street.

You don’t have 848 friends.

“You have about 4.”

And that’s good.”

“4 friends that you talk to.

“It’s better than 848 friends you don’t want to see, but are happy to look at.”

Why have so many friends when you cringe everytime you hear the sound…”

The video contains some adult language and is inappropriate for children, so you can view the YouTube video at www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UouP8cRYZ8&feature=player_embedded
