Jackie Evancho, the 11-year-old singer who landed the runner-up spot on the fifth season of “America’s Got Talent”, had a triumphant return to the show’s sixth season finale on Wednesday night performing “Nessun Dorma”, as reported by several entertainment news sites, September 15, 2011.

According to reports, her performance with the intensity and seriousness of a longtime opera star gave her roars of applause and a standing ovation.

“This time last year, a young girl was standing on our stage with no idea what a big star she was about to become,” said host Nick Cannon as he introduced her on the NBC show.

“Last season a 10-year-old little girl captured the hearts of a nation,” Cannon continued as clips were shown of her being introduced to the shows of Oprah and Jay Leno.

“She quickly became the best-selling debut artist of 2010, and her latest album ‘Dream With Me’ went straight to No. 1 on the charts. Now she makes a return to where it all began just one year ago,” Cannon added.

Dressed in a cream-colored, calf-length dress, the young girl took time to bashfully speak about her full-length album debut saying, “Um, well, I made a new CD called ‘Dream With Me’ … and it’s out now, and I’m really excited about it.”

Lastly, greeting her hometown crowd she apparently added, “I just wanted to say hi to Pittsburgh as well because I miss it.”

Related reports reveal that Jackie Evancho performed in the final quarter hour of the show before proclaiming Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. as winner.
