As noted by TMZ on Saturday, Stevie B, or Steven Bernard Hill in real life, was taken into custody from the MassMutual Center and ended up behind bars early Saturday.

According to the report, local authorities said that Stevie B, who rose to fame in the late 80s, allegedly had an unpaid child support whose mother lives in Feeding Hills, Agawam, Massachusetts.

Hill was cooperative but surprised by the arrest, expressing concern that he might miss a weekend gig in Providence, Rhode Island.” Springfield Police Sgt. John M. Delaney reportedly said.

Meanwhile, a Springfield state police station spokesman was said to have no information about the case of the “Dream Girl” singer, who is being set for an arraignment in Springfield District Court this coming Monday.

“It was a state police arrest; it wasn’t our arrest. (But) we had officers down there just in case,” Springfield Police Lt. James Rosso was quoted at MassLive.com; who reportedly confirmed that Hill was taken into custody during the show.

Stevie B, 53, is perhaps best known for his song “Because I Love You (The Postman Song)“, which climbed to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in December of 1990.
