Youngest M.D. at UC: Sho Yano

Sho Timothy Yano will be the youngest M.D. graduate at the University of Chicago at the age of 21, according to reports by several international news sites on Sunday, June 3, 2012. Yano will be graduating at the Pritzker School of Medicine this week. The youngest M.D. will be receiving a Ph.D. in molecular genetics and cell biology.
Yano reportedly started reading when he was 2-years-old, writes at age 3, and began composing music at age 5. He entered college at age 9 and finished it in three years as a summa cum laude at the Loyola University. He entered the medical school in 2003 at the age of 12.
Reports say that the average age of incoming medical school students in the US is 23-years-old.
Dr. Bala Ambati is reportedly the world’s youngest M.D. graduate. At 17-years-old, Dr. Ambati graduated in 1995 from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.
