Volkswagen `has revealed their Volkswagen Cross Coupe Concept which will make a world debut at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show on December 3, 2011.
The new Volkswagen Cross Coupe Concept was said to be a compact hybrid crossover SUV of the future that mixes style, performance, and efficiency.
“Volkswagen designers led by Walter de Silva and Klaus Bischoff have created a fascinating study that impressively combines the best of two worlds between a four-door coupé and a compact SUV . Original, strong in character, sculptural and dynamic, the Cross Coupé stands for the future of SUV design at Volkswagen,” according to Volkswagen‘s November 30, 2011 press release.
The new concept Volkswagen Cross Coupe is shorter than a current Volkswagen Tiguan and it offers a unique all-wheel drive hybrid drive train powered by two electric motors (1 x front, 1 x rear) and a direct injection turbo petrol engine (TSI). It can drive up to 45 kilometers on full electric power.
There are no plans yet of putting the Volkswagen Cross Coupe into production according to a certain report, but the technology and design cues are expected to be used in an upcoming production vehicle of sorts in the future.
