“The Watsons”, Jane Austen unfinished manuscript sold at Sotheby’s auction in London for $1.6 million

“The Watsons“, an unfinished manuscript by Jane Austen was sold at Sotheby’s auction in London for almost 1 million pounds ($1.6 million), according to international reports on Thursday, July 14, 2011.
Apparently, Jane Austen wrote the manuscript unfinished since 1804, which it was 7 years before her first work.
The manuscript for “The Watsons” was said to have been divided into 11 booklets composing of 68 pages, in which it tells about a family of four sisters, daughters of a clergy man.
During World War I, an Austen descendant sold the first 12 pages of the manuscript to give funds for the Red Cross. They were now located at Pierpont Morgan Library in New York, reports said.
