The 7th Asian Winter Games 2011 Opening Ceremony in Astana Kazakhstan

The Asian Winter Games 2011 held its opening ceremony at Astana Arena in Astana, Kazakhstan.  It was the first time that Kazakhstanhosted the Winter Games. The games starts from January 30 up to February 6, 2011.  The Asian Winter Games’ Opening Ceremony at the Astana Arena opened with much fanfare and jubilant activities.

The Sports Palace is capable of accommodating 15,000 spectators. The Asian Winter Games include 11events where 69 sets of medals will be awarded.

Mayor Imangali Tasmagambetov of Astana has proudly announced that winter sports like bandy, biathlon, figure-skating, ice-hockey, and speed-skating.

Other venues for the winter games are an Indoor Speed Skating Stadium is available for Speed Skating. The Kazakhstan Sports Palace will be for Ice Hockey and many more appropriate venues for the other sports.

Almaty accommodates Ski Jumping, Biathlon, cross-county skiing, and ski orienting at its Culture Baluan Sholak Sport and Culture Palace, Tabagan Sport and Recreation Complex.
