According to ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, Senator Lito Lapid will be back on his acting career via a teleserye on the said network, with a working title of “The Little Champ” and will play the role of a “kutsero” (coachman).
As noted in the report, Senator Lapid emphasized that the said TV project was offered to him even before the start of the controversial impeachment trial, and asked the public to understand his decision in accepting the offer.
“Nagkataon lang ito. Matagal na ito, kaya lang pumasok ang impeachment kaya nagkasabay lang.” Senator Lito Lapid said in an ABS-CBN interview on Tuesday, the day he signed a contract with the network.
(This is pure coincidence. The offer was made a long time ago and the impeachment trial suddenly came so both of them are now at the same time.)
“Dati ko na namang ginagawa showbiz at politics. Noong governor pa ako. Maa-adjust naman ang schedule pero siyempre priority pa din ang impeachment.” Lapid added, who will act for TV for the first time.
(Even before, I have been doing movies while in politics, when I am still a governor. My schedule can be adjusted although of course, the impeachment is my priority.)
Lapid, 56, who rose to fame in the 70s as an action star via the character “Leon Guerrero“, entered politics in the 90s in his hometown in Pampanga, winning as vice governor, and a governor for three terms.
