Sara Duterte: Davao City Mayor Punches Sheriff, DILG Investigates (Photo)

Sara Duterte, Davao City Mayor, may either be suspended or dismissed from public service after punching court sheriff Abe Andres on Friday, July 1, 2011, according to reports by several local news sites.
In an interview with ABS-CBN‘s ANC channel, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo said, that Mayor Duterte‘s action against the sheriff may be penalized with a simple reprimand to dismissal from service. He added that it is up to the sheriff if he will pursue the case against the Davao City mayor.
The DILG has already formed a team to look into the incident and the investigation will undergo the normal process.
Robredo added that the DILG will get the side of Mayor Duterte and court sheriff Andres, together with the witnesses of the incident.
