Rare baseball cards found in an Ohio attic were sold at auction for a total of $565,332, international news sites reported on Thursday, August 2, 2012.
According to reports, the cards were found in an attic in Defiance, Ohio when family members cleaned the attic of their grandfather’s house. It was said to be one of the most exciting finds in the history of sports card collecting. The cards came from a rare series issued at around 1910 that was given out with candy, reports said.
The sale was held on Thursday night during the National Sports Collectors Convention in Baltimore and was done online and thru live bidding.
Reports said that the family that discovered the cards will be dividing the cards and money evenly among 20 cousins.
