Rainbow toad seen again in Borneo after being “lost” for 87 years (Photo)

A species called rainbow toad that has been reportedly “lost” for 87 years was seen again in a Borneo forest after months of searching, as shown in the photo below.

As noted at LiveScience.com on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, the Bornean rainbow toad (Ansonia latidisca) was last seen in 1924 but scientists announced that day that they have found three of them.
Apparently, the “lost” Bornean rainbow toad has been listed as among the top 10 world’s most wanted lost frogs and scientists believed that finding one again has a very low percentage.
“When I saw an email with the subject ‘Ansonia latidisca found‘ pop into my inbox I could barely believe my eyes,” Robin Moore of Conservation International was quoted on the report, referring to the photo attached in the message.
“The species was transformed in my mind from a black and white illustration to a living, colorful creature.” Moore added, who also launched the Global Search for Lost Amphibians.
According to the report, three of the “lost” rainbow toads were found in three different trees in an undisclosed area in Penrissen region, Sarawak, a Malayan state of Borneo Island.
The three “rediscovered” rainbow toads ranged from 1.2 inches (30 millimeters) to 2.0 inches (51 mm) and consist of an adult male, a juvenile and an adult female being the biggest among them.
