Nur Suryani Mohammad Taibi, the pregnant Olympian from Malaysia, was reportedly in 34th place after the qualifying round of the 10-meter air rifle event at the 2012 London Olympic games on Saturday, July 28, 2012. Yi Siling of China won the event and took the first 2012 London Olympic gold medal.
London Olympic coverages say that Taibi‘s Olympiad was cut short during the first hour of the Games’ first day.
Taibi is reportedly ranked 47th in the world in the 10-meter air rifle. The end for the pregnant olympic shooter came at 10 a.m. on Saturday after finishing the qualifying round at 34th.
According to Taibi, her London Olympic appearance is not just about trying to win the gold medal. She said that “I think that I can do whatever I want to because I’m quite stubborn. Anything I want to do, I will do.”
After the event, her husband Marhazli B. Mhotar said that “I feel good, I feel nervous. I’m nervous because my baby is inside her. I think… I think I don’t know what to say.”
With her short Olympic stint, Taibi is hoping that she can still compete after four years.
