Latimes.com and other International sites reported that Ford’s best-selling F-150 pickup truck, could face a recall due to a corrosion issue on the metal straps holding up the fuel tank. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is looking to the possibility of the straps corrosion and it’s danger on the road.
Corroded straps could cause the fuel tank to fall and potentially drag on the ground and crack. It could Also lead to fuel spill. According to reports there have been around 300 complaints on the issue, with 95 complainants reporting fuel leakage and nine of them reporting sparks from the dragging tank.
There will be an estimated 2.7 million F-150 trucks produced form 1997-2001 affected by this possible recall.
On the other hand, AUDI is also facing into a possible recall 60,000 Units of Mini Cooper models for power steering issues that could potentially lead to a fire
The NHTA and Ford have not yet officially recalled the trucks. Investigation is ongoing to see if the recall is needed.
