MANILA, Philippines – Philippine VP Jejomar Binay invites the public to participate in a survey concerning the burial of ex-President Ferdinand Marcos at Libingan Ng Mga Bayani (Heroes’ Graveyard.)
This came as President Noynoy Aquino assigned Vice President Jejomar Binay to decide whether to bury the remains of the former strongman at the “Libingan Ng Mga Bayani” (Heroes’ Graveyard). This was disclosed in a series of reports by various local news sites this month of May 2011.
Aquino had refrained from deciding because it may be perceived as a personal bias, and has given the order instead to Binay.
This is in relation to a House Resolution No. 1135 requesting for the burial of Marcos in the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani. This resolution was spearheaded by Rep. Salvador Escudero III
and was passed by more than two hundred congressmen.
VP Binay in turn, had passed on the question to the public. To date, surveys from more than 3,000 individuals showed a division in the responses.
Binay reportedly claimed that he is not after the numbers but after the reasons behind the answers. Binay has to decide during the first weeks of June, so he is now inviting groups from the private and public sector to voice out their reactions. The public can send their emails to [email protected] or for Globe subscribers to text CP# 0926-7468-212, and Smart subscribers to text CP# 0949-629-5575.
