PAGASA Weather Update: Low Pressure Area Now A Tropical Depression Named Dodong
By Marhgil Macuha on Jun 9, 2011 in Asia, Science, Weather, World •According to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)’s latest weather bulletin issued at 12:00pm today, Philippine time, the low pressure area (LPA) located west of Metro Manila has already developed into a tropical depression and was named Dodong.

According to the weather bulletin, tropical depression Dodong‘s center was located at 60 km southwest of Iba, Zambales as of 11:00am today. It has a maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and moves north northwest at 15 kph.
Public storm signal number 1 is raised on the following areas:
- Bataan
- Pampanga
- Tarlac
- Zambales
- Pangasinan
- Cavite
- Metro Manila
Residents in areas under signal number 1 are being alerted against possible landslides and flashfloods. Furthermore, Dodong is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing rains over the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon.
