Earlier reports said that Antonio Margarito was rushed to the hospital after the fight for check-up. During the fight, the Mexican boxer was badly beaten by Manny Pacquiao on Saturday night.
ESPN reports said that Antonio Margarito suffered a fractured orbital bone to his face and was expected to stay in the hospital for observation until Sunday.
Orbital bone according to Wikipedia is the cavity or socket of the skull in which the eye and its appendages are situated.
As quoted in USA Today, Manny Pacquiao asked the referee to stop the game on the 11th round. However, Margarito does not want to stop the game.
“There was no way I was gong to quit. I’m a Mexican, we fight until the end,” Margarito said.
Margarito was not able to attend the postfight news conference at the request of the fight doctor due to his condition.
