North Korean leader Kim Jong-il “ended China visit”
By Angel Cuala on Aug 29, 2010 in International, Politics • No commentsNorth Korean leader Kim Jong-il was believed to have “ended his visit to China” on Saturday, according to various international news sites.
Although there were no official reports, broadcast video claimed to see Kim in a hotel at Jilin earlier this week, accompanied by youngest son Jong Un, whom believed will be his successor when he retires.
There were also unconfirmed reports that the main purpose of Kims’ secret visit to China is to meet with its president to secure diplomatic and financial support when he transfers his powers to his son.
Kim’s visit coincided with Chinese President Hu Jintao‘s vacation, which made both of them in the same region in northeast China.
Some political analysts say Kim Jong-il may be in a rush hurry to prepare his son for his replacement. Speculation spread that the 68-year old leader is in poor health after a suspected stroke in 2008.
The family dynasty has ruled North Korea since its founding after World War II.
Earlier, former US President Jimmy Carter visited North Korea and won the freedom of Aijalon Mahli Gomes, a US citizen who was sentenced to eight years of hard labor for illegally crossing over to China. Gomes is believed to be a Christian activist.
However, there were rumors that the former US President had North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, but it was remained unconfirmed.
