New eBay: Website redesigned with new logo, eBay Lifestyle Deals silently launched

Online shopping store giant eBay launched on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 the new eBay, along with their redesigned website, new logo, and eBay Now, their same day delivery service that they started testing last August to San Francisco eBay users. A new feature called eBay Lifestyle Deals was silently introduced.

A noted at TechCrunch that day, eBay President Devin Wenig, eBay CTO Mark Carges, and other top company personnel had a press conference in New York and talked about the newly redesigned eBay website, where sellers get their user pages with the same view of their products.

“If it’s the product they want they should be able to get it anywhere, anytime. Amongst the competitive landscape, our model and our 17 years of experience set us apart.” Wenig was quoted telling to the paper, with new eBay website to be rolled to all users around the world in the coming 100 days.

“Today you’ll notice the appearance of the new eBay logo—a fitting symbol for other exciting developments we’re unveiling today. eBay is growing fast, with more than 4 million new users in the first half of 2012 alone.” A statement reads at the new eBay website, with some reports comparing the format to Pinterest.

‘And technology is changing the way we shop faster than ever. Just a decade ago, smart phones didn’t exist. Today, eBay apps have been downloaded more than 100 million times and we’re seeing an exponential increase in transactions via mobile devices in 2012.” eBay added.

Among the key features of the new eBay include having a personalized homepage, where the “Feed” offers a collection of selected items, based on the shopper’s shopping history or personal interest. The now easy-to-scan search results provide more photos to help the shopper easily find the items they want to buy.

For eBay sellers, they can now hook their eBay profiles to their Facebook fans or profile pages, and embed YouTube videos as well. In addition, buyers can now see a larger profile image and larger images of items being sold on the seller’s profile.

Meanwhile, the eBay Lifestyle Deals is currently being offered to only a few urban areas, as of now, which include offers San Francisco Bay area, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C. This new eBay feature is a local coupon service, notably similar with Groupon and Google Offers.
