As reported on NBA.com on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, Thunder‘s two All-Stars, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook were relentless during the game. Durant scored 36 points with 17 of them in the fourth quarter while Westbrook finished with 27 points with 18 of them in the second half. Westbrook grabbed 11 assists, eight rebounds and only 2 turnovers while Durant had eight rebounds and four assists. Serge Ibaka was the only other Thunder with double figures at 10 points.
On Miami Heat, Lebron James had a big night with 30 points, Dwyane Wade had 19 points, Shane Battier added 17 points, Mario Chalmers scored 12 points and Chris Bosh with 10 points.
“We showed a lot of toughness in the second half, but we’ve just won one game. K.D. (Durant) is a terrific player but he’s special because he defends. In our huddles it’s all about defense,” Thunder head coach Scott Brooks was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has this to say: “This one’s behind us, they pounded us in all the muscle areas. When we’re not defending we don’t get opportunities. We were thinking we were putting ourselves in a position to win and then they just went away from us.”
The Game 2 of the NBA Finals is scheduled on Thursday, June 14 at the Oklahoma City.
