Manila, Philippines – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) pulled down on Monday, July 11, 2011 two billboard ads along EDSA-Mandaluyong featuring two local actresses.
According to local news that day, the two billboard ads feature Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis which MMDA noting them to be violating the National Building Code and lack of permit.
As noted by MMDA, both billboard ads, one is for a canned food product while the other is for a hygiene product, also appear to be offensive with both actresses allegedly posing inappropriately.
Earlier, Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos asked advertisers to pull out the billboard ad of Philippine Volcanoes, the country’s rugby team, also located along EDSA.
Apparently, the said billboard ad showed the men’s bodies and wearing only underwear allegedly in a very suggestive manner; and was noted not to be for minor viewing.
Last week, MMDA released a press statement on their official website citing the action of MMDA Chairman Francis N. Tolentino against three billboard operators for allegedly not obeying the law.
MMDA said eight more cases were filed and has now filed a total of 18 cases against alleged illegal billboard operators, with the first 10 cases filed last month.
