Michael Phelps Olympic Gold Medal Count Reaches 18 at London 2012

Phelps will end his 12-year Olympic run with a total of 22 medals (18 golds, two silvers and two bronzes). He won six golds in Athens and eight gold medals in Beijing.
The 27-year-old American swimming sensation swam the butterfly leg and handed over to teammate Nathan Adrian in first place for the freestyle. USA won the 4 x 100m Medley Relay title in 3:29.35.
Japan took the silver medal after checking in at 3:31.26. Australia beat Great Britain and settled for the bronze medal with a time of 3:31.58.
